UC520 Upgrade Issue - CCA 2.0.1 Ver 7.1.1

Hi,

I have tried 4 or 5 times now to reset my UC520 back to factory settings. I have both the 7.0.3 and 7.1.1 files and CCA 2.0.1.

I have already erased the flash and nvram and only loaded the factory cfg file and the uc500-advipservicesk9-mz.124-22.YB IOS files back onto the flash and copied the cfg file to startup and powered off and back on....

So far so good....

I now select the 7.1.1 file from the CCA manitenence window it starts doing is stuff then half way through it errors out saying ftp or tftp is running which it is not....

I look at the logs and this is what I see:

++: DEBUG:  : WARNING:: This command will install the necessary software to

WARNING:: before installing software.

Can anyone help?

netstat -a on your PC just to make sure someone doesnt have binding to FTP (which CUE uses).

After that, I would look at the status of CUE from SSH/Telnet window into your UC520:

(AND THIS IS ONLY if not a production system or you dont want to save anything and really ant to rest it all)

UC520# service-module integrated-Service-Engine 0/0 status

And if its not happy:

UC520# service-module integrated-Service-Engine 0/0 session

UC500-CUE> offline
!!!WARNING!!!: If you are going offline to do a backup, it is recommended that you save the current running configuration using the 'write' command, prior to going to the offline state.
Putting the system offline will terminate all end user sessions.
Are you sure you want to go offline[n]? : y

UC500-CUE(offline)> restore factory default
!!!WARNING!!!: This operation will cause all configuration and data
on the system to be erased. This operation is not reversible.
Do you wish to continue[n]? : y
Restoring the system. Please wait .....done
System will be restored to factory default when it reloads.
Press any key to reload:

Then try again from CCA.

Hi Steve,

Yeah dont worry not a production system, my own private system....

Ok so factory reset the CUE no ftp or tftp progs running or binded...

But it still drops out....

Is there a specific folder I should place the zip files in I see the 7.1.1 zip file actually loads the 7.0.3 files......Is this causing the issue as it seems to drop out...

Should I have internet connectivty when resetting the device as I am switching directly between my other router and the UC520 which is not connected yet to the inet....

I have reset the flash cards nvram startup config 7 times now and I still get the same result.... Next time I will take a screen shot if that is ok?

Is there anything else I should look at

Hi Brian,

Using CCA, I usually select ALL in the SW Upgrade screen and point to the local UC520_7.x.x.zip file on my PC.

No need to unzip anything.  It does that for you.

No need for internet connection at this point or anytime during upgrade.  You PC is on the LAN switch port of the UC and your wireless NIC is disabled (dual NIC causes havoc).

The bundle zip SW has everything you need and is on your PC.

Do you select 'auto format flash" button on the SW Upgrade GUI window of CCA?.  I suggest you do, but thats not that part thats failing, just that the new directory structure is supported more ;-)

Can you try to download the file again, or download 7.0.3 and see if that works better (the official bundle)?

What did the 'Status" say when your check CUE.   Was it online and running?

How many systems do you have and is this the only one with trouble?

Sorry for all the questions.   If we cant get this figured out (should be something basic) we may need you to collect the tech support zip from CCA and share it here so CCA team can examine....

Try turing off or stopping any service running on your PC that you dont need before reattempting.  Perhaps reboot it first and then stop any services that are not required.

Let us know.

Hi,

Still the same issue:

Following steps were taken:

1) Disabled wireless nic as using hardwired

2) Unistalled Java latest version as it seem to make my PC hang

3) Re-installed CCA 2.0.1

4) Reset all aspects of the UC520

tried to get the log file only to be told it doesnt exsist and would I like to create one.....

This is driving me mad.... I had no issues before I have done this action before.......the on ly things that have changed is the version of the CCA/ Java and my antivirus from Symantec to Mccafee.....

Any other ides since I cant even get the log file now.... I am think it must be related to Java.... Can you tell me which version I should have that works well with CCA2.0.1

I even tried the 7.0.3 image and it crashed at the same point as the 7.1.1

Thanks

Brian

Hi,

I have managed to capture one of the CCA logs...

It seems it always fails at the same point \ file....

Please advise...

Thanks

Brian

Way to go!!   Thanks.

I am sending to the CCA team now.....

hopefully wont take too long, as they are a very responsive team.

Thanks Steve,

Think I should try going back to version 1.9.1 ? Or should we wait to see what the CCA team say?

Thanks

Brian

I would rather not put you through any more trouble.   Lets give them some time.

Ok Thanks Steve....

OK, Development took a look and have two questions:

HI Steve,
I looked through the discussion on the Community  Central.
So right now, we still have the issue installing 7.0.3  package?
Could you check if the default gateway of the PC is pointing  to UC500 ?
Is he using the Vista OS ?

Hi Steve,

Yup trying to install 7.0.3

And yup I am using Vista Ultimate SP2

Hope this helps

Development is looking at the log right now.
At meanwhile I have another question.
I see the error in the log, it is from CUE not
CCA, looks like CUE cannot contact the ftp  server
(PC). Could you ask him to ping PC ip address  (192.168.10.11)
from CUE ?
error from log:

Bill,
Session to CUE (like I showed you before) and from its command line, try to ping your  PC

Steve,

I hope this is what you are looking for:

OK , thats not  good  :-)

On your UC520, do you have the interface built for CUE?

A good way to check is to  do a

#sh ip int brief

#sh interface In0/0

If you think these interfaces are not correct (if they got changed by accident...

I think you perhaps want to factory reset your IOS/CME manually (easiest way to get it back the way it should be)

# copy startup-config

# reload
