NSS as an ISCSI target

Answered Question
Aug 27th, 2009

I don't show that any of the NSS boxes support being used as an ISCSI storage array for servers.  Is this an unannounced feature, or are there any plans for supporting ISCSI with these boxes?

I have this problem too.

The current NSS product on the market does not support ISCSI storage array for servers.  However, the disks/volume virtualization is supported by NSS. The ISCSI feature will be available in the next genreation of Cisco SMB NAS.

The new NSS 300 Series Smart Storage products support iSCSI.  The Smart Storage devices support acting as an iSCSI target as well as a feature called Virtual Disk.  Virtual Disk will allow you to link multiple Smart Storage devices together.  The Virtual Disk feature acts as an iSCSI initiator.
