WAAS in HA

We are going to build a WAAS network, and are going to do HA at each location. I see the config examples talking about load balancing...but is there an HA design guide...

Since you mention 'each location' I will assume application accelerators. If you are using WCCP as your redirection, WCCP will automatically redistribute the load if a WAE device fails. The status of all routers and WAEs are shared with all devices in the WCCP Here_I_AM and I_See_You packets. The lack of participation in this WCCP communication will cause the device to be removed from redirection.

If this is an inline solution, you will want to review the cabling section of the inline cards installation documentation. The WAEs will be physically patched in serial. If one WAE fails, it will go into bypass mode and the second WAE will pick up the load if it has the capacity.

There is no HA design guide.

Thank You,
