Bah !

I just bought a Cisco 871 for a specific application, my sales rep promised me it would support 4 lans. However the default IOS doesn't.

Would somebody please tell me what I need to do just to be able to run one native VLAN (VLAN1) and 4 additional VLANS (20,30,40 and 50) on one trunk port.

Many thanks.

Here's what I have:

Cisco IOS Software, C870 Software (C870-ADVSECURITYK9-M), Version 12.4(15)T9, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc5)

The 871 will support 4 vlans but you need Advanced IP Services feature set for that.

The Advanced IP Services image needs an extra 4Mb of memory which is free of charge if you purchased the image at the time of purchasing the router.

Attached is a link to a data sheet with all the details -

Edit - note that even with Advanced IP Services only 4 802.1q vlans are supported and not 5.
