Hello,
Working with a 6500 chassis running on a single SUP720-3B.
For some reason, the power redundancy mode is showing "mode sso".
What's the proper config mode for a single sup chassis and how to change that?
redundancy
mode sso
main-cpu
auto-sync running-config
Thanks
Jeremy

Hello Jeremy,
as Kevin has noted these commands should have no effect on your single supervisor chassis.
they are probably inserted by default in the IOS image you are using to make the system ready for addition of a second supervisor.
Hope to help

You don't need worry about those commands since you only have one SUP. It won't impact anything.

Giuseppe,
I have a very strong feeling that the sso mode is inserted by default in the ios image but I haven't come accross any documentation to support that.
Have you?
Thanks

Hello Jeremy,
I have experimental evidence in a campus with 6509 used as distribution switches I see:
sh run | beg redundancy
redundancy
keepalive-enable
mode sso
main-cpu
auto-sync running-config
!
sh ver | inc image
System image file is "disk0:s72033-advipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-33.SXH2.bin"
on other systems running 12.2(18)SXF14
h run | beg redundancy
redundancy
mode rpr-plus
main-cpu
auto-sync running-config
auto-sync standard
!
sh ver | inc image
System image file is "sup-bootflash:c7600s72033-advipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-18.SXF14.bin"
all these systems have a single processor on the chassis.
Actually, 12.2SXH config guide says that you need to enter mode sso in redundancy config mode to have SSO but there is evidence it is enabled by default because it is the basis for NSF operations.
Hope to help
Giuseppe
