Anyone know of any good tools/software for monitoring switched traffic. We currently use Fluke Netflow Tracker but we can only use this on layer 3 devices.

You may have come across this already, but in the case of multiple L2 interfaces for a single L3 vlan, you can use the following global commands if you have A PFC3B or PFC3BXL running 12.2(18)SXE or higher:

!--- Enabling ip flow ingress as in the Enable NetFlow Section

!--- automatically enables ip flow export.

!--- If you disabled ip flow export earlier, you can enable it as mentioned.

ip flow ingress layer2-switched vlan

ip flow export layer2-switched vlan

Now we don't have a PFC3B. To be honest never heard of it before you mentioned it. What does features does the card provide?

Thanks

From what I can gather, the PFC3B has a published "ceiling" of 256K IPv4 prefixes in the CEF table (FIB TCAM). With the PFC3BXL, that number bumps to a million. The current TCAM can be seen through "show mls cef maximum-routes". There's also a PFC3A that I didn't bother looking up.

These go hand-in-hand with Sup720 and cat6k. Don't know where Sup32 or non-cat6k's stands today.
