Dual trunk from access SW--> Single Core- Simple quesry

Hi All,

Iam planning to add dual trunk links to Single core device from 3560G sw (both end all port hard coded to 1000/full). Spanningtree will block one of the link (core is the root and hence on the access sw). I have this running on other switches as well, but wanted to get experts openion if this is sufficient or is there any additional 'spanning-tree' cost configuration is recomended on one of the trunks so that it always be blocked/backup only.

TIA

Personally i would combine the links into a L2 etherchannel trunk and that way you don't have to worry about STP.

Is there any reason why you don't want to use etherchannel ?

Thanks Jon. 1Gig BW enough here but I will check on this as well. The Core switch ports are different modules (ex: 4/10 & 5/40), it does not matter what module they are . is that correct?

TIA

Correct, the ports can be on different modules as long as they are the same speed/duplex etc..
