Hi,

I always applied the PBR in ingress interface but now I have question whether it also works when apply to egress interface.

The background is multiple client VLANs and single uplink VLAN on 3750, and need re-directing to different next-hop for the WEB traffic. its much simpler if I can apply the PBR in egress interface.

Advise please,

Hi John,

Answer is No. Policy routing is specified on the interface that receives the packets, not on the interface from which the packets are sent.

As stated, PBR affects traffic only on ingress. If you are redirecting web traffic to a content engine, you should look into WCCP.

Edison.

John,

PBR can't redirect traffic going out on egress interface. In case you want to redirect traffic to cache engine, you may try to use WCCP.

Q. Does the Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series support WCCP?

A. Yes WCCP is supported with release 12.2 (37) SE in IP Services.

HTH,

Toshi
