CME

Hi netpro's

I need to run my configuration past you and ask the following questions:

(I am running CME7 on a 1861 router with 2 built in ISDN BRI's)

1 - When I connect my two BRI interfaces to the ISDN TA it stops me from sending and receiving calls. If I disconnect one of the BRI interfaces it works. Is the problem because I don't have the trunk-group commend configured on my BRI ports??

2 - I have created a voice-translation rule 1 that isn't working. I want all my local users to dial 39xx, 82xx, etc 4 digit extensions which will automatically map to e.164 number for example local user dials 8218 and is automatically put through to 01925 858218

3 - The 2 ISDN BRIs have 10 DDI number - is there any configuration missing that would stop DDI and CLI numbers being sent and recieved from the CME?

Thats all.

Thanks in advance.

Rod

1. No. Which exact IOS are you running

2 Use bulk list speed-dial for that. explained in admin manual

3 not evidently - may be related to problem .1.

Hi P,

I am not back at site until Monday and will let you know what IOS I am runnig.

I get what you are saying about the bulk speed dial, however is there a way that the user can pick up the phone and just dial the 4 digit extension with CME appending the full e.164 number?

Thanks

Rod

Well, that is what a bulk speed-dial is for, you can use other means (personal speed-dial, translation rules) but are less scalable and convoluted.

Hi P.

I am still having the same problems at this site. I have 2 isdn bri circuits with 10 DDI numbers - when I enable the isdn static tei 0 on the second bri interface i get an engaged tone when dialing the site - the only way I can fix the problem is by removing the ISDN static tei 0 from my configuration from interface bri0/1/1

below is the output from the Q931 debug.

One more question - what exactly does the isdn static tei 0 do to the interface? and do i need it for the bri interfaces to trunk calls?

Thanks

Rod

Hi, as I told you in another message, you are receiving the same message on both interfaces, that is not normal, both circuit and router must be checked.

Hi P.

After more investigation I have found the BT have configured my circuit with 1 physical port with the 4 channels - thats why I was getting the issue of the two interfaces coming up when making or receiving calls.

I have unplugged the cable from int bri0/1/1 and only have bri0/1/0 active. The problem is that I can only have 2 calls active at any time and not the 4 I would expect - do I need to configure my bri port differntly to whats listed below:

interface BRI0/1/0

no ip address

isdn switch-type basic-net3

isdn point-to-point-setup

isdn incoming-voice voice

isdn static-tei 0

trunk-group BRI

trunk group BRI

translation-profile outgoing DNIS

voice translation-rule 10

rule 1 // /01946/

voice translation-profile DNIS

translate calling 10

As replied in another thread - BRI cannot have 4 channels, you can cross-check any source you want about that.
