LAN Routing

I have a 1800 Series switch connected to a 3560 Series switch. The purpose was to easily create (dhcp from the router) and seperate two networks. I can ping from network A through the router to the 3560 switch, but no further. And in reverse, nothing behind the 3560 switch can see Network A. Any suggestions would be helpful...

ok. here goes

Cisco 1800 Fa0/0 (local Lan) 172.17.100.1/24. DHCP From the router 172.17.100.1.

Fa0/1 is a point to point connection to the 3560 switch. Local ip address is 172.16.100.1/30

The switch is connected to the router on gig0/6. this port has an ip address of 172.16.100.2/30

the switch has an ip address of 10.27.140.43 (Vlan 1)

I'm able to ping from the 172.17.100.1 network to 10.27.140.43, but no further. I need to be able to hit addreses behind the 3560's VLAN ip, such as its default gateway and the internet....hope this helps

Ok so your topology look like this right?

f0/0 <- 1800 ->f01/- g0/6<-3560-> <-Default gateway of 3560->

It is not clear from your description that what is this default gateway? Does it know how to reach 172.17.100.1? Do you have dynamic routing or just static routes?

If possible share sanitized copy of configs from these devices.

if enabled static route in 1800 then:

Add the static route towards 3560 switch as-

ip route 10.27.140.0 255.255.255.0 172.16.100.2

and add static route in 3560 switch as-

ip route 172.17.100.0 255.255.255.0 172.16.100.1

I've got the static routes in there. But i can only ping the 3560's ip address, nothing behind it. but from the 3560, i can ping all devices behind the 1800 router. I don't think i have a serious need for routing protocols. I'm thinking about NAT as my solution. We'll see what happens after that.
