Hello,

A customer have a CUCM 4.1 cluster in a remote office, and a CUCM cluster 6.1 in the headquarter, now we will migrate the IP Phones for the remote office in the CUCM 6.1 Cluster.

I want to ask you how to get licences for IP Phones from the CUCM 4.1 cluster to add it in the CUCM 6.1 Cluster.

Regards

Mohamed

Hi Mohamed,

I am guessing that you are not using the DMA migration to move from CCM 4.x to CUCM 6.x which would generate the proper info for DLU Licensing :)

Cisco Licensing is very,very good about re-homing these licenses when required. Just send an email to;

licensing@cisco.com

Something like this;

We need to move XXXX Licensed Phones from a CCM 4.x cluster to an existing CUCM 6.x we would require these DLU's

to be tied to existing Publisher MAC AAABBBCCCDDD accordingly. Can you please send us the IP Phone DLU calculator spreadsheet (example attached Mohamed) so we can fill in the appropriate customer information.

Here is the pertinent info;

End User Name - Bobmart.com

Legal Address - 11223 Fun City Rd

City,Country - Banff, Canada

Purchase Order Number - 111111

Sales Order Number - 2222333

Bill to ID - xxxxx

Ship to ID - xxxxxxxxx

Thanks in advance for all your help with this! Can you please email the new license to:

mohamed1@funzone.com

Hope this helps!

Rob

Hi,

The problem now is that the customer can not find the following informations :

Purchase Order Number - 111111

Sales Order Number - 2222333

I received the below method from cisco licencing but i don't find the requested menu "System - Licensing" in the administration web page of CUCM 4.2 :

When you are upgrading from Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) version 3.x or 4.x to 5.x or later, you must migrate your DLUs and Nodes licenses. This is ONLY for version 3.x or 4.x to 5.x or later. When you are upgrading from versions 5.x and later, DO NOT need to manually migrate your licenses. Your existing licenses will work with later version of the software.

There are two different methods for performing migrations; self service portal and manual license issuance.

1. Self Service Portal: (Preferred Method)

Migrations are handled via a portal on CCO.

As part of the upgrade process an xml file is generated and this file is required to obtain your new license key. You need to copy and paste the xml file at this website, fill out the appropriate fields and a license will be generated and emailed to you.

Following are the self service migration instructions:

How to register existing licenses and request for new licenses:

Step 1: In Cisco Call Manager Administration, choose System > Licensing > License File Upload. The License File Upload window displays.

Step 2: Click View File. A pop-up window displays that has the license information for existing phones and nodes. Copy this information. To copy the contents on this window, use Ctrl-A (Select All) and Ctrl-C (Copy).

Step 3: You need to go to License Registration Page (URL hyperlink: https://tools.cisco.com/SWIFT/Licensing/PrivateRegistrationServlet?FormId=806) and paste the file contents (using Ctrl-V) into the text box provided.

Step 4: Enter the MAC address of the Cisco Communications Manager server for which the licenses are being requested, and a valid email ID.

Step 5: To obtain the license file, click Submit. A license file is generated.

Step 6: The license file must be uploaded to the server with the matching MAC .

Can you help please ?

Hi Mohamed,

The problem with the reply from Cisco is that they don't realise that you are not using DMA migration to move from CCM 4.x to CUCM 6.x which would generate the proper info for DLU Licensing :) The most important fact here is that you want to add phones that are already licensed on a 4.x build to an **Existing 6.x build without using DMA. So yours will require a **Manual** license issue.

We need to move XXXX Licensed Phones from a CCM 4.x cluster to an **existing** CUCM 6.x we would require these DLU's to be tied to existing Publisher MAC AAABBBCCCDDD accordingly.

Can you please send us the IP Phone DLU calculator spreadsheet so we can fill in the appropriate device information.

The note below;

Step 1: In Cisco Call Manager Administration, choose System > Licensing > License File Upload. The License File Upload window displays

Refers only to CUCM 5.x and above and is done when using the DMA migration method.

Hope this helps!

Rob
