Upgrading from LMS 2.5 to 2.6

Hi All,

We are in the process of upgrading from LMS 2.5 (yeah, I know) to 2.6. Is there a standard migration path I should follow? The document I got from the Cisco website does not suggest anything in terms of backup and, more importantly, restore in case of upgrade failure.

Or server is a Sun V240, dual-cpu with 4gb RAM and this is going to be a same server upgrade. We have plans to move to a Win2k3 vmware image running LMS 3.1 later this year.

Thanks for your comments

Jose

The Cisco.com migration docs should be sufficient. In a nutshell, you'll go from 2.5 to 2.5.1 then 2.6. After you upgrade to 2.6, go to http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cd-one-3des , and download CS 3.0.6. After installing that, you can go to Common Services > Software Center > Software Update, and download service packs for RME, Campus Manager, and DFM.

Thanks for the information and the link. This is what we have installed right now. Are those part of LMS 2.5 or 2.5.1?

1. CiscoWorks Common Services 3.0.4 11 Jul 2006, 14:54:52 EDT

2. CiscoView 6.1.4 13 Jul 2006, 10:53:25 EDT

3. Integration Utility 1.6.0 04 May 2005, 15:06:56 EDT

4. Resource Manager Essentials 4.0.4 12 Jul 2006, 14:04:49 EDT

5. Device Fault Manager 2.0.4 12 Jul 2006, 15:05:08 EDT

6. Internetwork Performance Monitor 2.6.0 06 May 2005, 11:22:12 EDT

7. Campus Manager 4.0.4 12 Jul 2006, 14:43:45 EDT

Reason I ask is I don't think I have the files to upgrade from 2.5 to 2.5.1.

Thanks

Jose

That's LMS 2.5.1. You can migrate directly to LMS 2.6.

Thanks for the information. Just one last question: is there a roll back process in case we have any issues with the upgrade?

Any documents you can provide a link?

Thanks.

Jose

No, there is no rollback. You would need to clean the system, restore LMS 2.5.1, then restore your 2.5.1 data backup.
