Hello!

The Costumer branches are connected to the central router via MPLS.

The central router has Fastethernet interface and one-one subinterface ( dot1q ) to every branches.

Unofrtunetly the IOS shows the main interface load only.

How can we know the subinterface loads???

We don't know check the loading of the branch lines.

Regards,

The cisco should plan this feature in the next releases.

Hello Karoly,

to check traffic on Vlan based subinterfaces you can use:

sh vlan

or

sh vlans

(ios version dependent)

see this example

sh vlan

Virtual LAN ID: 1 (IEEE 802.1Q Encapsulation)

vLAN Trunk Interfaces: FastEthernet0/0.1

FastEthernet0/1

This is configured as native Vlan for the following interface(s) :

FastEthernet0/0

FastEthernet0/1

Protocols Configured: Address: Received: Transmitted:

IP 10.48.128.2 2360279291 3961759836

IP 10.97.148.6 2360279291 3961759836

CLNS 14053144 0

Virtual LAN ID: 4 (IEEE 802.1Q Encapsulation)

vLAN Trunk Interface: FastEthernet0/0.4

Protocols Configured: Address: Received: Transmitted:

IP 10.97.132.2 76334376 72987461

Virtual LAN ID: 5 (IEEE 802.1Q Encapsulation)

vLAN Trunk Interface: FastEthernet0/0.5

Protocols Configured: Address: Received: Transmitted:

IP 10.97.144.2 7228026 7206777

by using this command over time you can have an idea of traffic load for every vlan subinterface.

Unfortunately these are only packet counters.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi,

very thnks.

It's a very interesting command.

it is a nearly perfect solution :-)

Hi!

I've found the next very interesting solution.

The PRTG traffic grapher maps the subinterfaces and draws correct graphs. (kb/s)

therefore somewhere in the IOS there are the subinterrfaces counters and we can read them via SNMP!!??
