Question: How do I configure two internet connections on two HSRP routers

Hi,

I have two routers which is configured in HSRP,and our LAN is using the HSRP IP as default gateway.the two routers are connected with 2* 7 MB metro ethernet links connected on one ISP.how do I load balance both the circuits to use same time for LAN users

For outbound traffic:

Option1:

Configure an IGP between the routers and the LAN, and let the IGP take care of load balancing.

Option2:

Configure two HSRP and user groups.

Configure Router1 as active HSRP for group1 and Router2 as active for group2.

For inbound traffic, it depends on how your two Internet circuits are set up...do you have BGP session w/ the ISP?

If you do, you can ask the ISP to do multi-path, or, you can advertise half of your prefixes through one link w/ higher preference (not local pref, but other means of manipulation such as prepend), and the other half through the other link.

btw,we have bgp session running with ISP,and OSPF is configured in our Core switches (6506)to router
