QPM4.1: license when moving server

Hi,

Customer had:

server win A : LMS 3.0.1

server win B : QPM 4.0

Now customer has:

server win A : LMS 3.1 + QPM 4.1

the QPM 4.0 license doesn't work for QMP 4.1, I think the reason comes from moving server.

How can I generate a new license:

- from QPM 4.1 box with pac ?

Thanks,

This is not a supported configuration.

These 2 systems cannot coexist on the same machine, hence require a dedicated system each.

Cheers,

Michel

Hi,

On the QPM 4.1 doc, you can find this information:

"Installation Prerequisites

We recommend that you use a dedicated server for QPM for maximum performance.

If you cannot use a dedicated server for QPM, you can install QPM on a Common Services server with LAN Management Solution (LMS) 3.1."

Regards,

Elisabeth

That's new then. It was not possible before.

Also back then the license could not be installed in the common services part, but had to be installed in the application itself.

Maybe this is why it is not working? Where are you trying to install?

Also some licenses are based on the mac address of the server. If that is the case you must adapt the mac address on the server NIC card,(make sure old server mac is not in same lan) or request a new license for the different mac.

Cheers,

Michel

I find on doc that this is a noded-locked license:

"Migrating QPM Information from a QPM 4.0 Server to a QPM 4.1 Server

This section describes how to migrate QPM 4.0 information to a new QPM 4.1 server that runs on Windows.

Note : You need to buy a new license for remote migration because the QPM license is a node-locked license. Also, the device limit with the new license should be equal to or more than the device limit supported on the old server."

we need to buy a new licence !!!

On many modern NIC cards, and even on a lot of old ones, you can set the mac address to the value of the old server. For LMS the mac address is not relevant.

You should however make sure that the other "old" server is not in the same broadcast domain. Or you also alter that mac address.

Anyway avoid a duplicate mac address

Cheers,

Michel
