The Idle disconnect time has a number of settings about the duration after which if there is no activity on the connection of a workstation to the NAS through a network connection, the CIFS connection will be dropped after the time out period. Fact #2, the NSS3000 cpu can manage 21 connections concurrently.
I have a newtork of 10 workstations and want to set this control to read "never" disconnect on idle. It is a workgroup using windows XP pro on all PCs.
How does this impact network performance?
Does it impact performance of the NSS3000 cpu to process disk transfers from all users randomly?
Once disconnected, does the connection re-establish itself automatically? Or does the use have to log in to the share once again?
