I have been searching around, I know it is part of the 12.2 Firmware and beyond, but not finding any specific information in regards to this.

it is supported see the config chapter for 12.2(44)SE

you may need to check the following:
>>To use this feature, the switch must be running the IP services image (formerly known as the enhanced multilayer image [EMI]).
you need also to check the sdm you have
show sdm prefer
