ANISP field for provider billing on UC520

Unanswered Question

We asked our provider about being able to break down long distance by local extension # on our bill. Right now it all shows up under our main PRI number on our phone bill.

When an extension with a DID calls outbound, it always pushes our Main number. We really didn't want our DID numbers to start showing up on client's call displays.

This is the response (below) from our PRI provider. Is there a setting in the UC520 to allow us to forward the extension number but not show the DID caller ID at the other end? (We setup and maintain the UC520 ourselves).

Thanks for any help!

Our systems are capable of providing the break down for you. Our telephone switching systems are slightly different from your previous provider however as we offer both options.

For this option, you will need to have your interconnect company program your PBX in order for us to capture the phone extensions (DID #s).

Your interconnect company would need to populate/activate the 'ANISP'

field on the PBX.

By having that option programmed, Allstream will be able to capture/bill

the LD calls by phone extensions instead of the main PRI #

The field is probably populated "CALLING PARTY NUMBER" right now instead

of "ANISP" and this is why the CPN is appearing on the invoice.

I have this problem too.

This is possible by using the "clid restrict" command under your POTS dial peers associated with the PRI trunk. Notice that you will need CLI for this (no CCA support). From the documentation:

"The clid restrict command causes the calling-party number to be present in the information element, but the presentation indicator is set to "n" to prevent its presentation to the called party."

Hi Marcos,

Thanks for the reply. We're very comfortable using the CLI. We customized backgrounds, ringers and features already in it.

What does clid restrict actually do? My understanding is that it will send the custom calling party number, but flag to the telco not to present that number. Is it then up to the Telco to display the deafult PRI main line number? Is this something we have to call them and arrange?

I don't see where our main PRI number will be coming from if we change all the dial peers to their local numbers and start using the clid restrict feature?

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated!

The Telco should automatically detect that you do not want to offer the CLID to the far end. They can either replace it with the main number or send it blank. For that, you will need to talk to them.

You will have to manipulate your outgoing translation rules applied to the POTS peers to present individual DID's to the Telco, in order to accomplish what you wanted to do originally.
