ASA 5510 Remote Access VPN problems

Unanswered Question

I started having an issue where windows clients connecting to a Remote Access VPN cannot communicate with other windows servers or workstations across the tunnel.

Although communication is fine between the windows clients and Linux servers and workstations.

After some testing, I noticed that arping to the windows client from a linux workstation I receive:

# arping 10.10.40.96

ARPING 10.10.40.96 from 10.10.40.73 eth0

Unicast reply from 10.10.40.96 [00:23:33:CF:2F:87] 0.702ms

Unicast reply from 10.10.40.96 [00:23:33:CF:2F:88] 0.891ms

Unicast reply from 10.10.40.96 [00:23:33:CF:2F:88] 0.741ms

Whereas arping to the gateway shows:

# arping 10.10.40.1

ARPING 10.10.40.1 from 10.10.40.73 eth0

Unicast reply from 10.10.40.1 [00:23:33:CF:2F:87] 0.714ms

Unicast reply from 10.10.40.1 [00:23:33:CF:2F:87] 0.700ms

Unicast reply from 10.10.40.1 [00:23:33:CF:2F:87] 0.673ms

Any ideas on what would cause this and how do I resolve this issue?

Thanks,

Rick
