Hi Svein,

Let me try to understand your requirement.

You need a switch with 24 ports of Fibre Optic with 10 Gb interface (fibre)?

If this is so, you can you a number of choices:

1. WS-C3560E-12SD has, as with previous post, 2 X2 10 Gb ports and 12 x 1Gb SFP ports.

2. 4928-10GE offers 28 ports of wire-speed fiber Gigabit Ethernet ports (SFP) and two wire-speed 10 Gigabit Ethernet (X2 optics).

3. WS-3560E-12D has 12 X2 10Gb ports. Using an X2 TwinGig Adapter converting 10 Gigabit Ethernet X2 Interface into Two Gigabit Ethernet SFP Interfaces.

The next one up is to get a 4500 or 6500 chassis (including the Sup cards) and get the SFP/GBIC cards. Don't know if you want to go down this path because it's not financially sound.

Hope this helps.

It depends on the Topology of your Lan but the Cisco Catalyst Express 500 or Cisco 2960 ranges would probably be the most appropriate. You also need to consider the topology (VLANS, Spanning Tree etc) and whether you need redundant links. I am assuming you want to use Cisco Switches.

Or this is a link to the whole range of Cisco Switches.

We have no need for vlan, and the network topology is simle, we use fiber mainly for security reasond and the network is a stand alone LAN network. we have one Cisco Catalyst 3750 Switch 24-Port 100Mbps Fiber, but we want to upgrade to 1 GB Fiber. and 10GB uplink ports (2 switces is located in different rooms)

I'm sorry I think I have misunderstood your requirement, I think you are looking for switches with 24 X 1Gbs SFP (Fibre) Ports and 10Gbs Trunk ports. If this is correct I think you will be looking at the higher spec switches, you are probably better of asking the question in the LAN, Switching and Routing section.

The 4500 series switch is modular and has the 1/10GE uplinks you are looking for plus line cards to support 1G access ports.

The LAN forum can probably help you as well.

Good luck.

Cisco Catalyst 3560E-12SD

This switch has 12 SFP Gigabit Ethernet ports and 2 X2 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports.

It does not have 24 ports u are looking. If no problem with the budget then can think about modular switches in other post.
