WS-C3750E-48PD-SF not showing results under POE Report

Answered Question
Sep 27th, 2009

Should a WS-C3750E-48PD-SF switch have results under POE Report under RME 4.3.1 > Report Generator > Inventory?

When I run that report against that type of switch, I get the following result:

INVREP0104: None of the selected device(s) are POE capable / enabled. Select POE supported devices to generate the report. Please refer the Online help for more information.

I have this problem too.

This is a known bug, CSCsx15486. Unfortunately, at this time, only the following device types are recognized as PoE capable:

WS-C3560-24PS - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.563

WS-C3560-48PS - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.564

WS-C3560G-24PS - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.614

WS-C3560G-48PS - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.616

WS-C3750E-24PD - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.792

WS-C3750E-48PD - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.791

WS-C3560E-24PD - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.795

WS-C3560E-48PD - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.796

If your 3750 is a WS-C3750E-48PD, you can try setting the sysObjectID from the stack OID to the device-specific OID using the command:

no snmp-server sysobjectid type stack-oid

Then reboot the switch, delete it from DCR, and re-add it. Then it should show up in the PoE report.

That said, EnergyWise is different from PoE. While RME may not see the switch as a PoE switch, the new EnergyWise features of RME 4.3.1 should still work. Try running the EnergyWise readiness assessment report to see if this switch is compliant, or if it requires an upgrade.
