We are trying to figure what we have to go to on 6509 hybrid boxes, the catos side is clear but the IOS side is not. These boxes are currently running 12.1(27b)E3 . It doesn't clearly state what we have to go to, is the upgrade path to the SXF release ?If so then they are out of luck due to RAM restrictions . We also have the same issue with our 4506's where most are running 12.2.25 EWa4 , what would these upgrade to ? It doesn't give a fix release for EWA just says to contact your support organization so we don't know if the latest release in the EWA train is fixed or you have to run them into the SG train . thanks for any input...

Hi Glen,

On the 6500s, the recommendation is going native IOS with at least SXF17. If you have RAM restrictions, the choice is upgrading the RAM which isn't as costly as replacing the entire box.

Hybrid configuration are EOX per this announcement:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps708/prod_end-of-life_notice0900aecd80699ddb.html

and no new software fixes will be incorporated on such configuration.

As for the 4500s, 12.2EWA's last shipping release was EWA14 back in May. This release does not contain the fix. I recommend migration to (31)SGA9 or any of the latest SG flavors.

Thanks Edison , doubt the customer is going to go for upgrading all the RAM on the 6500's so they will have to live with that vulnerability. Also doing 30 catos to IOS conversions is not my idea of fun . :-)
