I am trying to add background images to IP phones on CUCM 4.1(3). I note the following documents which contain all of the info:

HOWEVER, I am using 7940/7960s. Can anyone confirm whether the file formats are the same or, if they're different, what the correct requirements are.

No, they're not the same

7940/60 only accept idle images, you search either CCO for idle image or NetPro as there are hundreds of posts on this
