install solar winds or any freeware tftp server on your laptop
then on the 3845:
conf t
tftp server flash:
end
!
copy tftp flash
enter ip address of remote tftp server (your laptop)
enter name of the file (the ios name on your laptop, don't forget the .bin extension)
and enjoy it.
before rebooting specify what the router has to load with the boot command:
conf t
boot system flash:/name_of_copied_ios_ (check the synopsys of this command and point at the right location of your flash memory)
wr
!
reload
yes
!
!
keep in mind you can even use a flash card with a 3845!!!

Hi Kumar,
if you refer to the physical procedures nothing is beter than the documentation that cisco provides with the card. I don't remember if it is hot-swap (inserting the card without switching off the router) but it is very very very worth to check on that documenation.
by the way, let me give you this link:
it'll help you. it is very easy everything.
Careful to this... Since you need to reboot the router to load the newer IOS, beter you follow these steps:
1) load the new ios
2)switch off the router and install the card
3) boot the router again
If you did everything correctly it should everything work straight away without further reboot
