Can anyone tell me what the "F" at the end of these 3750 models means??? I am connecting Aironet 1142n and 1252n APs and I want to know what the Power differences are or if it's a IOS Software upgrade or whatever it is? I just want to be sure I order the right equipment for what I need.

Thanks

Wayne

Both come with the same IOS image (standard), the main difference is the "F" which provides 15.4W PoE on all 48 ports (enhanced PoE).

Regards,

Edison.

Thanks for the reply, but I still want to clarify. Do you mean that:

The WS-C3750E-48PD-S is ONLY used for the lesser power required Aironet 1142, and the WS-C3750E-48PD-SF can be used with both, 1142 and 1250, but can ONLY be used with the Aironet 1250s using the DUAL Radios because of the extra enhanced power the 1250 needs to use when in Dual Mode?

Thank

Wayne

Correct.

WS-C3750E-48PD-SF will be able to power devices that require the enhanced PoE feature such as the new AiroNet 1250s.

Regards,

Edison.

Edison,

The way I am understanding this is:

1. The WS-C3750E-48PD-SF can ONLY power the 1250s because it can produce 20W of power (more than the 802.3af 15.4W).

2. The WS-C3750E-48PD-S will NOT be able to power the 1250s in Dual Radio mode.

3. And to get the WS-C3750E-48PD-SF, it is an IOS upgrade for Enhanced Power(up to 20W).

Please let me know if all these assumptions are correct.

Thank you,

Wayne

Can anyone tell me what the "F" at the end of these 3750 models means?

As what Edison stated, it stand for "Full" PoE power (or 15.4 watts of power to all 48 ports).

Yes and No. First and foremost, the 1250 requires at least 20.0 watts to use both radios and the C3750E-48PD-SF can provide this provided you upgrade your IOS to 12.2(44)SE and you can use the command power inline port maximum 20000.

However, you can run the 1250 at normal 15.4 watts (both radios active) but at a cost of lower MCS rate. This is achievable when/if you upgrade the APs IOS to 12.4(10b)JDA3 or the latest version of 5.X or 6.X for LWAP.

Hope this helps.

Leo,

Great info - I was not familiar with the AP requirements. 5+

Hi Edison,

Thanks for the ratings.

I'm actually very thankful for Cisco to listen (?) to the various users of the 1250 and allowed 15.4w support (with both radios operational).

We have over 100 1250s (because the 1140 release was delayed) and each one had to have the power injectors. Now that the new AP firmware is put on, I've got tons of these "bricks" lying around (no really, THEY DO LOOK LIKE BRICKS!).
