I have an interview this week with an ISP provider that has labeled the following for job responsabilities, I am just a newly qualified CCNA and also I am studying BSCI.
What would you guys say i should brush up on before this interview? I have already had one telephone interview and this is the second stage. I have not worked with VPN's yet or firewalls:(
This is the Job Spec
Liaising with clients to determine required router configuration
ï§ Configuring router for client requirements and shipping to site
o Typically Cisco 870, 1840 or 2800 router models and also
SpeedTouch, Netgear and ZyXEL
ï§ Liaising client to determine firewall configuration
ï§ Configuring firewall for client requirements and shipping to site
o Typically ASA 5505, 5510 and 5520 firewall models
ï§ Carrying out remote management of client router/firewall equipment, with
simple tasks such as changing access lists, NAT rules, VPNs etc. Also
performing more complex tasks such as remote IOS upgrades and flash
config image to resolve technical faults
All help appriciated,
Well if you have got through the first interview on the telephone you must have done well on that so good start :-).
You have CCNA and are studying CCNP so you should be okay on the switch/router side. Looks from the job spec that firewalls/VPN are quite a large part of the job and in these you have little or no experience. There is a wealth of information on the ASA firewall on Cisco's website.
The following is a link to the ASA config guide -
i'm not suggesting you try and read it all :-), but have a skim read, especially the intro and setting up the basics.
Don't try and bluff your way through the interview, that will only annoy your interviewers. If you don't know, say you don't know but don't leave it at that. Show that you know what to do when you don't know the specific answer ie. CCO and all the config example/guides of which the above link is just one example.
Edit - forgot to say, good luck with your interview, hope it goes well.
