Cisco 857 dropping internet connection

Hi,

I have connected a Cisco 857 router to an ADSL line. Internet worked for a while, then the connection started dropping. I have tested with a different router (a Netgear) and the connection is stable.

The line is adsl 2+, and I have loaded the latest firmware (adsl_alc_20190.3-0-33.bin) but this has not helped.

I ran the command "show dsl interface atm0" and have attached the results.

Can anyone advise what could be causing the problem?

Hello Nick,

I remember this issue.

I see the following:

Noise Margin: -6.5 dB

in DS ( CO to you direction)

noise margin should be expressed as a positive number in DB

this means noise would be stronger then signal

but at the same time we see

Output Power: 18.5 dBm

Attenuation: 18.5 dB

I would try if possible with another DSL module, this looks like troubled.
