SNMP informs

Hi,

If snmp informs are enabled on the switch, and snmp logging is happening

at the server, and the switch is sending the snmp information to the server. If the link between the server and switch goes down, then the informs start getting queued up in the switch. My question is, what happens when the link comes back up? Which is sent first, the

inform queue or the inform saying that the link is back up?

Please advice.

-thanks

Informs are enqueued tail first, and dequeued head first (i.e. LIFO). So the oldest inform will be processed first.

Thanks jclarke,

So the queued informs will arrive first, then the inform stating the link is back up; correct?

-Thanks

Yes.

Actually, I see where the confusion stems. I meant, the queue is FIFO. That is, the oldest informs are processed first. New informs are inserted into the tail of the queue, but the dequeue process pulls the next inform to be processed from the head of the queue.
