Dear Netpros,

I am attaching a Rough Topology Dia.

There are around 30 Vlans on Netwrok.

Netwrok should be fully Redundant and managable.

Can you suggest me the configuration guide ?

Should we use Vlan creation and intervlan routing on Core layer or on Distribution layer ?

How ?

Pls reply ......

i suggest :

c4500 will be distribution and core layer. here you will define VLANs (VTP server) and SVI , routing, ACL,..., STP (mst mode)

c3560 will be access layer (L2 only). (VTP clients) here you will attribute ports to VLANS.

of course uplinks will be trunks

a typical config can be found here:

http://hassairi.50megs.com/sw.html#bb

other usefull commands are in the same web page

Dear ohassairi,

Thanks.

I have one more confusion.

How to configure any vlan i.e vlan 5 Ip address if TWO SUP V with 2 10 GE card in one 4510R core sw and with high Availability are there?

e.g

Int Vlan 5

ip address 172.120.25.101 255.255.255.0 alt 172.120.25.102 255.255.255.0

or

Pls suggest.

Pls give me the sample config for one vlan 5.

L2 switch: 2975 or 3750

L3 switch: If you want 2 x 10 Gb and SFP, look at WS-C3560E-12D or -12SD.

Dear Dipesh ,

you can have your VLAN splitted across between your core Switches ( 15+15) by enabling HSRP among the VLAN for High Availability .

Similarly PVST on Access layer to ensure uplink between two core switches ,

look the sample config attached .

Dear sanvaishu ,

Thanks For reply...

thats good but I am asking about what if I have 2 nos of SUP in the same SW 4510R?

Regards,

Dipesh P.

the second SUP in the same sw will not obtain any IP. you can consider that you have only one SUP.

u need just to define redendancy mode with some commands like:

Switch(config)# redundancy

Switch(config-red)# mode sso

for more details see:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.2/53SG/configuration/RPR.html#wp1097801

hi ohassairi,

It means that :

If I have 2 nos of Sup and config is for example :

int vlan 5

Ip address 10.2.151.5 255.255.255.0

now Active sup i will remove than automatically this Ip will be used for other SUP?

M i correct ?
