I am using a Fan Module 1 on a 6509 chassis and it is giving me an error of insufficient cooling, is there a way around it or do I need Fan Blade 2??

Also how can turn on the WiSM Module?

You can issue an hw-module boot or hw-module reset

If you need additionnal get it, you should not try to work around such need.

I tried that command but this is what I am getting;

Router#hw-module module 6 reset

Proceed with reload of module?[confirm]

% module 6 is operationally off (insuff cooling capacity)

any ideas?

What version of Code are you running? Also what SUP module is in the chassis?

you need to add a fan in your cat6k chassis in the fan slot.

Did you just newly-insert the WiSM? By default, power to the module is turned off until enabled by using the command

"power enable module ".

Hope this helps.

I tried that command and nothing happened. I am thinking I do need fan blade 2 to get this going...

on the side not what is the command to combine the power supply output instead of the redundant mode..?

If you look at your chassis now, do you see a green status lamp of the WiSM? If not, then it's not getting power. What is the result if you do a "show module"?

sh power status power-supply <1 or 2>
