7975G IP Phone - PC Port Negotiation

Replaced a 525G phone with a 7975G phone, so the PC port is now 1000/100/10.  There is a small switch connected to the PC port and now will not connect.  Seems that Auto negotiate is not working correctly on either the phone or the switch.  If I directly connect to a PC, the link is established.

I see there is a selection in the Network Configuration on the phone for PC Port and it is set to Auto Negotiation, but I do not have the option to change it.  Is there a way to change this from Auto, to a static selection (ex: 100 Full)

You might need a crossover cable if you literally have a switch behind the phone.

But, you can set the speed manually.

Settings -> Network Configuration -> Option 9.

Be sure to press **# to unlock the phone.

Yep, that did it.   I guess this switch does not auto-sense device to device.

Just so you know...  I did go to that option on the phone and unlocked the settings, but there is still no option to change that setting.

Is the edit button not available there on that screen?  I am looking at a 7975 running beta code on a test CallManager, but I am pretty sure the option should be available for you to change.

On the 7945 I have on my CME, it is also available for edit.

Even after you press * * #   ???

I just tried on my 7975 and the edit button appeared.

Correct.   I press **# and the lock opens, but there is only the exit button.   Is there something that needs to be placed in the telephony-service section to allow this function to work??

Here is the telephony-service section of the config:

A switch behind the phone is never a good idea. Our newer ESW switch, for example, implements a security smart ports policy that limits the number of MAC addresses that can be learned by a particular switch port when the IP+Desktop profile is used.
