I have found a problem with the 7.1.3 Early Adopter pack. I discovered that the firmware for the 7940 and 7960 phones are missing from the 7.1.3 Early Adopter pack. However, I was able to copy the correct phone loads for the 7940 and 7960 phones from the 7.0.3 software pack over to the UC520, and the phones did upgrade to the correct version.

Hi John,
I am thinking that they may have been removed for UC520 to make space for the new SPA5x5 phone loads.
Remember unlike the UC540, the UC520 has a flash: space challenge and so EOS/EOL phones may have been removed.
Since the phone models you mention are EOS/EOL, there is no new loads for them, so am wondering if you had them from previous use, they may have already had their latest FW?
Correct me if I am mistaken, but these phone should boot and register with their current load, without having it on flash:
Or did you find they were on old FW and needed an upgrade?

The following URL lists the end-of-life and end-of-sale notices for the 7900 series phones:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/prod_eol_notices_list.html
The following 7900 series phones have reached the end-of-life status:
I have not seen any official end-of-life notice for the 7940G and 7960G phones, which are still available today, even though the third-party SIP support for 7940/7960 phones, the original version of the 7940 and 7960 phones with English hard labels, and MGCP support for 7940/7960 phones is in end-of-life status.

John,
Thanks for catching this. I have corrected the issue and have uploaded an updated UC 520 Early Adopter Software Pack 7.1.3. Check the timestamp, it should be October 6th 2009. This Software Pack should have the required Phone firmware. The ones bundled in the Software Pack fit on UC 520 CF. You will need to use CCA 2.1 or later to choose the phone firmwares that apply to your deployment.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Saurabh
