Hi all,

Is it possible to use Polycom (Soundpoint IP 330 SIP) IP Phones with the UC520? If it is possible, are there any problems to watch out for?

Thanks in advance for your prompt response and advice.

Regards

Tola

Hi Tola,

These SIP IP Phones are not tested/supported on UC 500. With UC 500, you cannot get SIP line side support on 3rd party SIP IP Phones. It may however be possible to configure them as 3rd party trunk with very limited call control feature set.

Thanks,

Saurabh

AFAIK, Cisco doesn't support 3rd party SIP Phones too well. ISR based CUCME use the same feature set as UC 500, so that won't be an option. You might want to look at CUCM BE - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7273/index.html

Thanks,

Saurabh

Hi Tola,

The T1/E1 card, VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1,  on UC 500 only supports Voice, it does not support data.

Thanks,

Saurabh

Hi Saurabh,

Thanks for your response. What alternative Cisco Voice solution would you recommend in place of the UC520 for a business with 3 sites (25-50 users each). They already have the Polycom SIP phones and hoping to use them.

Thanks Saurabh. I think I would go for the UC520-32U-8FXO-K9  with an optional E1 VIC card. Do you know if the E1 card supports both Voice and Data?.
