Jumbo frame on switches

Hi All,

My site has a network layout like the attachment. I have already set the MTU to 9000 on both node A and node D. The switch interface connected to node A and node D are also jumbo enabled now. But my jumbo frame still cannot function now. Is it I need to enable the jumbo on the uplink(red circle in attached photo) too?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, all interface along the path (ingress and egress) should be configured 9000bytes MTU.

Are you using switch or router? From your diagram its a router.

To avoid problem, Jumbo Frames is recommended for back-to-back connection and L2 network. If there is a L3 device in-between, make sure that the ingress and egress interface supports larger packet size, if NOT, the packet will be drop or fragmented by the router.

Hi Dandy,

Sorry....it is switch in between actually.

As the link stated, all devices/interface along the path should be configured for 9000bytes MTU.
