Transcoding

Hi,

I configured transcoding using dsp resources on a 2800 series router and place the xcoder resource in a media resource group on callmanager7.

I then placed it into a MRGL for use.

With conference bridge resources I found out that I can use the resource from a non local router.

For example, I can place the mgrl that contains conference resources of the HQ router for use on the phone of a remote site.

However, I could not use remote xcoder resources to do transcoding on a local router.

Did I do something wrong or is this not suppose to work ?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi paul,

yes you can use a conf bridge in a remote site but note that you will have the bandwidth of the 3-calls or more in your wan.

Also I think as you said transcoding could be used by the local ip phones only, remote phones couldn't use it

thanks
