Hi,
We have a bunch of SPA9x phones from an old project and I was wondering what I need to do to get them to work with the UC520?
Thanks in advance,
Bob

Cisco has released the SPA501G, SPA502G, SPA504G, SPA508G, SPA509G, and SPA525G phones which support the UC500 solution. The SPA502G, SPA504G, SPA508G, SPA509G, and SPA525G phones include the following features, which are not available in the SPA900 series phones:
G.722 can be configured for the following phone models on the UC500:
NOTE: The 7906, 7911, 7941, 7961, 7970, and 7971 phones need the optional wideband handset installed to support G.722. The other models listed above ship with wideband handsets.
To enable the G.722 codec, you will need to make changes to the UC520 configuration through CLI. CCA does not allow you to specify the codecs negotiated on external calls (although you can specify the preferred codec for site-to-site calls for sites managed through the multisite manager in CCA 2.1 or later, but G.722 is not available as a option in CCA 2.1 for site-to-site calls). You can also specify the order in which the codecs will be negotiated for external calls in CLI.
Here is an example for codec negotiation on the UC520:
voice class codec 1
! Make G.722 the preferred codec for calls that support it.
codec preference 1 g722-64
! Negotiate G.711 mu-law codec second
codec preference 2 g711ulaw
! Negotiate G.711 a-law codec third
codec preference 3 g711alaw
! Negotiate G.729 codec if none of the codecs above are negotiated.
codec preference 4 g729r8
!
! WARNING: DO NOT specify g729br8 as a codec preference if your ITSP does
! not support it. If the ITSP does not support g729br8, outbound calls can fail.
Codecs other than G.711 mu-law, G.711 A-law, and G.729 (without Annex B) might not be supported by your ITSP.

SPA9xx are not supported on UC500 and do not support the SPCP (tokenized SCCP) protocol, which is the usual operation mode for UC500.

Thanks, I was hoping that wouldn't be the answer.
It's funny how much the CP521 phones look line the SPA phones;) .....

Hi Bob,
Good observation :-)
The Sipura acquisition phones became the Linksys Voice System SIP phones (SPA9xx) and while they were used as the base for the CP52x, CP52x do not run SIP and there were phone load changes to allow them to run SPCP protocol, which allows them to run in the SCCP environment of UC500.
SPA9xx cant do that.
