After login into CiscoWorks Assistant, whenever trying to access any other link like Add Device or Allocate Device, results in given below error:

===== Error Message =======

Status polling timed out for the last run task [Add Devices].

Step may be running in the backend.

Do you wish to stop status checking and continue with the selected task?

============

I have tried to restart the services, and even restart the machine as well, but still getting same error since last three days.

Try this. Shutdown Daemon Manager, then check the process list, and make sure all GG* processes have died. Then, run the following command:

NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=opsxml dmprefix=Opsxml

Then restart Daemon Manager. CWA should work.

on windows, from the msdos prompt (CLI):

net stop crmdmgtd (stop)

to start again :

net start crmdmgtd

Go to the /CSCOpx/bin/ directory, then :

"perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=opsxml dmprefix=Opsxml "

Thanks. I am sorry that I missed to tell you that CiscoWorks is installed on Windows 2003 Standard Ed.

Can you guide me how to shutdown the Daemon Manager?

Thanks and Regards,

on windows, from the msdos prompt (CLI):

net stop crmdmgtd (stop)

to start again :

net start crmdmgtd

This command does not works in Windows enviornment:

NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=opsxml dmprefix=Opsxml

Error: dbRestoreOrig.pl is not recognized internal or external command....

Please guide.

You didn't run it correctly. Exactly what did you type into the DOS prompt?

Go to the /CSCOpx/bin/ directory, then :

"perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=opsxml dmprefix=Opsxml "

Thanks for your follow up.

I have run it without the perl command, and it is running now. Do I need to stop it and run it again.

Thanks and Regards,

well if you dont run the perl script with perl, it wont work, so you need to do it again.

It warns me that "Existing content of opsxml database will be lost".

What does it means, may I lost the configuration files or is it something else?

Thanks and Regards,

That is the Ciscoworks assistant database related, you will not be loosing any other data.

Thanks, but may I know the cause of error created, so that we will be careful next time.

Thanks and Regards,

As Joe suggested, this is to re-init the database of Ciscoworks assistance. Something have gone wrong, it may be possible to find out looking at your logs, but there is no obvious reason of why it happened.

Thanks to Joe and Lucien. It is working now.

Have a good day.

Best Regards.
