Config archive/fetch

I'm trying to add some devices in RME that are physically located in china and behind the firewall. ping response is aboit 260 msec. I have opened up the necessary firewall for telnet but the config fetch/archive still fails with the telnet timeout. I have increased the timeout value to 180 sec but still no avail. What is the best way to manage the device that have high latency? How can I successfully manage them in RME?

Your timeout is the way to go. Is it really taking more than 180 seconds between input and output? I suspect there may be some other issue. A sniffer trace of the config archive process filtering on tcp/23 would be helpful to troubleshoot this.
