ASA firewall versus Cat 6500 firewall modul.

Hi all,

can someone send me doc. or give me

brief overview in diference of firewall ASA and firewall modul WS-SVC-FWM to Cat 6500?

ASA can terminated VPN such as IPSec, WebVPN. But FWSM only have firewall feature.

You can go to cisco website and check related data sheet for more detail performance data.

thanks for a. My question is, is it the same to use ASA and FWSM when I dont need VPN ending?

What is advantage FWSM and what ASA?

More or less the "firewalling" features are similar.

There are minor differences depending on the specifics.

Also, one architectural difference is that the ASA performs operations in CPU whereas the FWSM does part of it in hardware and part on the Networks Processors and CPU it has.

Also, the ASA is more actively evolving and the FWSM is a mature and older product.
