I recently upgraded the IOS on my 4507Rs with SUP-IV from 12.2(31)SGA10 to 12.2(53)SG. Since I did that I've been seeing this log message pretty frequently:

%C4K_SWNETFLOWMAN-4-FLOWSTATISTICSLOST: Flow rate too high. 545460846592 packet byte count statistics update lost {IpSa: 0.0.0.0}{IpDa: 0.0.0.0}{IpProt: IpProtocolNull}{IpL4SrcPort: 0}{IpL4DstPort: 0}{RxVlanId: 0}

According to this link:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.2/18ew/system/message/emsg.html

The message is informational only, but I wonder why It's only started to appear since I upgraded the IOS. Also, I've noticed significantly higher CPU usage as well.... like 90-95% vs the ~70% I saw before. I think I will open a TAC case about CPU usage, but thought I'd ask here if anyone knew anything about that log message. Thanks!

Hello Ryan,

the message should be just telling it couldn't account for Netflow purposes all the flows that are going via the switch.

Other colleagues have reported increased cpu usage after upgrades.

there is any specific feature of 12.2.(53)SG that you want to use?

Hope to help

Giuseppe
