Hello
Just a Quick question regarding VSS.
Can the VSS Pair act as separate redundant switches. Or is that it the Supervisor is built to act in VSS Mode only.
I have two 6506-E with VS-S720-10G-3C. I want them to act as separate switches like if there is no VSS capability.
I will add the VSS configuration later on.
Thanks

Hello Zeeshan,
it is possible that from a licesing point of view the tool makes distinction.
However, that is an IOS image
I have a recent switch with
sh ver | inc image
System image file is "disk0:s72033-advipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-33.SXI2a.bin"
for example.
The file name is that of a legitimate IOS image
Hope to help

Hello Zeeshan,
yes you can do this.
But you will need to take care during the migration process to VSS.
see

or
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9336/products_tech_note09186a0080a7c74c.shtml
these are still Sup720 supervisors after all with the added VSS features.
hope to help

Thanks ...
One more thing
Im using Dynamic Config tool which is giving me a some error that says
Errors 1. When only ordering the primary supervisor, please select one of the following software: SV33IBL-12233SXH/SXI, SV33IBK9L-12233SXH/SXI, SV33IBN-12233SXH/SXI, or SV33IBK9N-12233SXH/SXI.
I have selected " SV33AIK9M-12233SXI (s72033-advipservicesk9_wan-vz.122-33.SXI.bin)"
It looks like some ordering math.
But can i use " SV33AIK9M-12233SXI (s72033-advipservicesk9_wan-vz.122-33.SXI.bin)" with one supervisor
