CSS Lose Configuration

Hi there, i am having a problem with a CSS 11501 machine. Problem started with a faulty compact flash slot0 that was replaced with the compact flash in slot1. since i had the configuration backed up i restored it to the new compact flash and also updated the ios version to 08.20.1.01(same with the original configuration). Also i have imported the certificates and everything works fine for a long period (1-3 Hours)i test this also by rebooting the machine. Then i reboot the machine one more time randomly and the CSS loads up with no configuration. when i do show run its blank and also show startup is blank. The certificates are all there. if i load the configuration again it will stay operational for 1-3 hours and then if i reboot it the configuaration will be lost again. Have you ever came across this problem, i need a fast resolution to the problem. i would apreciate any comment on this.

that's a weird one.

Never heard of it.

when you reboot with empty config, if you type 'llama' to get access to debug mode and then type 'ap_file copy c:/sg0820101/?' do you see a startup config file ?

You might have to try with d:/..../?

Could you get a 'show boot' and 'show disk' as well when there is no problem and when you just lost the config.

Thanks.

Gilles

Thanks for the tips Gilles. I will provide the information tomorrow as soon as i get to work.

Dear Gilles,

again thnks a lot for the your post. with your help i manage to find out the following: 1. i restart the CSS with a good configuration, i enter the debug mode and issue the ap_file copy c:/sg0820101/? command i get the following:

interCSS-B(debug)# ap_file copy c:/sg0820101/?

2. I then pause for a sec to check some other things on the configuration and after a minute or 2 i run the same command "ap_file copy c:/sg0820101/?" this time i get the following:

interCSS-B(debug)# ap_file copy c:/sg0820101/?

i am waitting for you reply.

strange one.

What if you just configure a single interface.

Do you still see the same effect ?

You might have a script probe or command scheduler miss-programmed that erases the startup-config.

So try to go one line at a time and see when the problem occurs.

Gilles.
