Formatting CompactFlash for 2801

Hey all,

I have dug up a 2801 router from a closet and am trying to load an IOS on the CompactFlash card. I was unable to do so, and I was unable see the flash card in a card reader, so I assume it's dead.

So, I found a 128MB flash card from an old camera and am now trying to use that. When I insert it into the router, I see the following:

Flash card inserted in flash. Reading filesystem on the device...

Wait for the completion message before accessing device

Error removing Unknown file system for flash.

%Error show flash: (No such device)

When I try to format flash:, I get the following:

Router#format flash:

Flash card inserted in flash. Reading filesystem on the device...

Wait for the completion message before accessing device

Error removing Unknown file system for flash.

Format operation may take a while. Continue? [confirm]

Format operation will destroy all data in "flash:". Continue? [confirm]

%Error formatting flash: (No such device)

I know this 128MB CompactFlash card works because I can see data on it using a card reader. What am I doing wrong?

The flash seems not compatible with the router.

Must be the wrong type. Cisco CF slots require Type 2 CF.
