hello,

pls tell me the procedure after route suppressed by flapping.

what i understood is as follows:

when one route flapps, router generates penalty of 1000, if again flapps, then it will add another 1000 penalty and total value becomes 2000 and route suppressed for 15*4 60 min.

if route stable for 15 min(half life) it reduces penalty from 2000 to 1000 i.e half life, if also route stable till another half life 15min, then penalty reaches till re-use limit i.e 750, and again bgp advertises that route in production enviornment.

Is this my concept is correct? or correct me...if i am wrong.

Hello Sourabh,

your understanding is correct.

see

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/iproute/configuration/guide/irp_bgp_adv_features_ps6350_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html#wp1056297

there is however

Maximum suppress limit-This value is the maximum amount of time a route can be suppressed. The default value is four times the half-life.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
