UC500 as a SIP server and SIP trunk

I have a question. Is it possible to use the UC500 as a SIP server and as SIP trunk? Both on one device (UC500).

I have configured this for my softphone and Cisco IP phone with SIP firmware (is is not supported, but it works fine!)

Relevant UC500 Config:

voice register global
mode cme
source-address port 5060
max-dn 20
max-pool 10
authenticate register
voicemail 5801
tftp-path flash:
file text
create profile sync 0372431455915407
ntp-server mode directedbroadcast
voice register dn 1
number 5854
allow watch
name Xlite
label test
voice register pool 1
id mac 0013.205D.838C
number 1 dn 1
presence call-list
dtmf-relay sip-notify
username 5854 password 1234
codec g711ulaw

and now, I want also configure the UC500 for a SIP trunk. It this possible? Yes, what's the config for that?

Best regards, Wim

FYI we have tested Cisco IP Phones out a SIP Trunk on the UC500 - since you are using a 3rd party SIP phone - there maybe certain scenarios that would not work and would have to be worked through. Good luck!!

What are the scenarios where this configuration may not work?  I currently have a 3rd-party SIP endpoint.  I am able to dial other extensions including voicemail, AA extension but unable to make any outside calls through the SIP trunk.

Hard to say without looking at the config as well - do you have:

voice service voip

  allow-connections sip to sip

Also, noticed that the dialed number to the UC500 was 1818xxxxxxx - generally there is an access code such as 9 in front - can you try dialing with 9 + number and see if that works?

I know the first dial number was mistake...  i forgot to add the access number.

voice service voip

   allow-connections sip to sip

These are one of first things I checked.  I'm thinking that perhaps I'm missing a dial-peer statement for the SIP DN or pool as noted on the attached config.

If anything, do we have a config for a 3911 phone registered on a UC 500 box using a SIP trunk?  I can probably use that as reference.

Few things to check:

1. Disable outbound proxy on voice register global as by default it will use the outbound proxy configured on the system which would not make sense

voice register global

  no outbound-proxy

2. Add a new SIP trunk dial peer without COR lists

dial-peer voice 11028 voip
description **CCA*North American*Long Distance**
translation-profile outgoing PSTN_Outgoing
preference 1
destination-pattern 91[2-9]..[2-9]......
session protocol sipv2
session target sip-server
codec g711ulaw

voice-class sip dtmf-relay force rtp-nte
dtmf-relay rtp-nte
no vad

3. If you connect a 79xx or SPA 5xx phone in non SIP mode to the UC500 - can you make outbound calls over the SIP trunk?

let me try your suggestions.  The Cisco phones running SCCP and the fax machine work fine going through the SIP trunk.
