MOH question

Im not quite a routing and switch expert when it comes to multicasting a network. But would there be anything the switch configurations that would point multicast traffic to a specific server IP address, or is this just a general advertisement in the network?

We upgrade from 4.x to 7.1.2, change the IP addresses of our CUCM and now can not get our MOH to work correctly.

Even using the sample file, we get dead air. Looking at the trace logs, the phones are requesting the streams, source, etc.

Anywhere we should be looking?

Restart Cisco RIS, Cisco Database Layer Monitor and Cisco IP

Voice Media Streaming Application services

- Are you using MOH multicast or MOH unicast? If it is Multicast, is MOH

server CallManager or a Router?

-Check if the MOH server has the correct IP address?

-Remove an MOH audio source from the system and add it back again.

- In 2 devices, add this new MOH Audio Source.

If nothing works then,

-Enable the IP Voice Media Streaming App, in "Detailed" debug trace level.

How is the RIS and DRLM related to MOH? I know the stream app is, but did not know the others were.

Multicast off CUCM.

Each Server has their own address 239.1.1.x

Used the sample file, no worky.

The trace shows the phones are requesting the source the correct source, server, port, etc.

It is possible (and recommended) to configure multicast security so that only certain IP addresses are allowed to act as multicast sources.

The document at the link below shows how this is configured using the ip pim accept-register list command in conjunction with an extended ip ACL - see page 92.
