Which release is the most recommended and stable for ASA5505 now?
We're just leveraging ASA as a SSL-VPN gateway.

8.0.4 is a good one in my opinion.
I would suggest reading the release notes to view the individual caveats and caveat solutions that are present for each software version.
I'm not sure if there's actually a safe harbor version specified for the ASA 5505.

Personally (i.e. this is not an official Cisco recommendation), I would recommend 8.0.4.32 since it includes some fixes for security vulnerabilities (cfr. www.cisco.com/go/psirt) and go to 8.0(5) when it is released (expected in November, but this is also not an official announcement).

Too subjective question to be able to answer clearly.
8.2.1 has been out for quite some time and it hasn't suffered from any big show stoppers or major issues. Many people run it and they are satisfied.
8.0.4 has been out for much longer time. It is pretty stable from a general standpoint and most people are satisfied too.
If it was my choice I would chose 8.2.1.
I hope it helps.

Thank you folks.
Are we not supposed to choice 7.0.4?
