Upgrading power supplies in 6509

I need to upgrade the power supplies in a 6509 chassis from 3000 watt to 6000 watt units. With my power redundancy set to redundant can I do this with out taking down the chassis?

Hi Adam,

Use the power calculator to make sure you have enough power for all your line cards (especially if you have POE cards) and sup(s) before you bring down one of them

I would still have an outage window to do it (just in case).

Since you are using redundant mode, you can swap them out one at a time, so you don't have to power down the unit. Make sure you have the 650x-E chassis, other wise, it can only support 4000W. However, you should still schedule a outage window like Reza said.
