Hi,

For CEF Load balancing is done per destination or per packet, routing protocols do Load balancing for equal cost paths to a particular destination.

Load sharing on the other hand, is done By BGP as there is no loadbalance. the reason loadsharing is performed because you can not gurantee equal percent of traffic distribution on different paths but with loadbalance you gurantee equal traffic distribution on different paths (supported equal cost paths).

However, its not manadatory to see when you run a routing protocol such as rip, eigrp, ospf to see equal traffic distribution on the eqaul cost paths due to the pattern of the traffic for the destined network.

The way that most people use the terms I believe that load balancing and load sharing are pretty much the same. For people who do want to use the terms with different meaning, I believe that load balance implies having equal load on each of the links while load sharing implies that the load on each link will not necessarily be equal.
