Recently I setup and installed CUP: 7.0.5 with our UCCM 7.0.2. The CUPC client installed is 7.0.2.
I was looking at - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6789/ps6836/ps6844/data_sheet_c78-485106.pdf
My question is how do I get out CUPC to look like the one on the left instead of the one on the right. (when looking at the pictures)
Is that an older version? Simply having the status message with their availability has been requested by my users. Also currently idle and on the phone have the exact same look on our current client... Also some people may want the pictures to show up.
Thanks.

The one on the left is a Mac version. If you'd like to get CUPC look like the one on the left, you need to get a Mac (www.apple.com).
If you just want to get the picture showing up on contact list, you need to upload the photo into LDAP. Microsoft support the thumbnailPhoto attribute but does not provide a tool. You may get the tool from http://www.dameware.com/downloads/.
After that, you may go to CUPS Admin > Application > Cisco Unified Personal Communicator > Settings. Set the 'Photo' field to 'thumnailPhoto' (case sensitive).

forgot to mention that the thumbnail feature works on both PC and Mac version. :)
You don't have to be afraid.

One additional note on this: thumbnailPhoto has been deprecated in favor of jpegPhoto. Just plan carefully as binary image data can cause the AD database to grow quickly.
